vlog: seascape village for a unique seafood experience

I've been craving seafood for a while, and it was recommended that I check out Seascape Village in Pasay City by Manila Bay, where you can shop for fresh seafood and bring it to the restaurant to have it cooked while you enjoy your meal outside by the Manila Bay.

Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to Seascape until after dark, so we didn’t get to catch the sunset — but I’m not sure we would’ve had much of a view anyways sitting “seaside” as the city has put sand over the area next the Seascape Village with plans to build a resort, which I find a bit disappointing.

Nonetheless, it was a neat experience visiting Seascape Village. Though, I highly recommend that you go with someone who isn’t shy about bartering at the market if you’re going to choose your own seafood.

We completely forgot about it — and our meal ended up costing a little more than it should have since you can immediately order the food from the menu as well without having to visit the market.

The whole appeal to this place is the seafood market and bartering for the prices, so that’s something I recommend a visitor go and experience.

We ordered:

  • Shrimp tempura

  • Salted egg shrimp (we bought 1 lbs of shrimp and got it cooked in two ways)

  • Singaporean crab

  • Adobong pusit (squid)

  • Stuffed and grilled squid

  • Cheese baked scallops

  • Sweet and sour lapu lapu

  • Rice (of course)

  • Mango smoothie

  • Watermelon smoothie

The seafood we ordered at the market came out to PHP 3850 ($96.25 CAD). Which is amazing.

A few summers ago, my mom and I went to Granville Island Market to buy crabs, which cost $80.00 for three crabs (about the size of our Singaporean crab dish).

We paid PHP 3009 ($75 CAD) to cook the seafood and left PHP 300 ($7.50 CAD).

I’m not sure I have any comparable restaurants in Canada that have this kind of experience where you choose your fresh seafood and have it cooked for you in various ways for under $50 a person. What a great deal, right?

But if we’re talking about $50-a-person meals in the Philippines, this is a bit pricey. Granted, we should have also remembered to barter for the seafood prices.

Anyways, If you end up checking Seascapes, let me know what you think ;)
